We are one of the world’s leading traders in steel and the raw materials and consumable items essential to steel production. We source from 405 steel mills around the world and sell some 13,3 million tonnes of steel and steel-related raw materials annually to over 49,000 customers.

Our trading units include:
Flat Steel
The flat steel unit trades in hot rolled coils and plates, cold rolled coils, the full range of galvanised coils, tin mill products and pre-painted coils.
Typical product applications vary from construction to pipe making, pre-painting, and high value-added OEM applications as well as general service centre activities including cut-to-sheets, cut-to-blanks, slitting and strips for the retail end of the supply chain.
Long Steel
The long steel unit trades in steel products such as wire rod, rebar, merchant bar and beams.
We have a broad, multiple supply portfolio from Asia, Europe and the CIS. This supply base ensures we can provide competitive pricing as well as convenient and cost-effective delivery into the major industrial and economic centres of the globe.
Automotive
DITH’s automotive steel unit was formed six years ago to provide commercial, technical and logistics support for steel products directly suited to the automotive manufacturing sector.
Today we are able to supply our customers with a large range of steel needs from homologated mills (mild and deep drawing grades for outer panels; high strength, low alloy grades; IF grades; dual phases; and trip steels) offered on a range of contract models.
Semi-finished Steel
Our semi-finished steel trading activities are centrally coordinated in Lugano, Switzerland with traders operating locally from our centres in Macedonia, Ukraine, India, South East Asia and Singapore.
As a group we source, sell, finance and distribute steel slabs, blooms and billets to a range of customers around the world.
Special Steel
DITH Special Steel (DSS), has a physical presence in more than 15 countries worldwide. The trading unit performs the purchase and sales activity of special steel product classes, including stainless steel, for DITH, as well as the role of master distributor for our relevant distribution companies and all our steel service centres.
Our product portfolio consists of over 100 different steel grades, sourced from more than 40 first class suppliers to serve end users in automotive, energy, ship building, railways and the engineering sectors.
Pipe
DITH sources pipes from various origins and delivers to numerous destinations including Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and North Africa as well as North America.
The pipes serve numerous applications including the oil and gas sector.
Raw Materials
The raw materials trading unit is involved in the purchasing, selling, financing and distribution of iron ore, coking coal, PCI, anthracite, petroleum coke and metallurgical coke to integrated steel mills across Europe and Asia and India.
In a number of cases we operate structural supply contracts, which complement and often support the organisation’s access to the resultant steel products.
Metallics
Our metallics team is involved in both ‘near-field’ and ‘far-field’ ferrous scrap cargo for delivery into Asia, Europe and North America; including our own electric arc furnace operation in Macedonia. Together with long-term supplier partners, we are involved in the collection, processing and sale of ferrous scrap from locations in Europe and North America.
The trading unit is also involved in sales of pig iron and hot briquetted iron from leading sources and sold to a range of customers around the world.
Consumables & Ferro Alloys
Refractories
DITH refractory products are manufactured in China, where we hold direct investment. The materials cover the entire range of products required by steel manufacturers and are distributed under the brand name "DITH Refractories”.
Ferro-Alloys
Since 2008 DITH has been the exclusive distributor for the products manufactured at ‘Vanchem Vanadium Products Ltd. (Pty)’, a subsidiary of the Duferco group. While more recently we have acquired the exclusive international distribution rights for HBIS Chengde’s Vanadium products.
Aluminium
The DITH Aluminium team trades primary aluminium, the full range of downstream aluminium products (billet, slab and primary foundry alloys) as well as semi-finished products such as aluminium coil, sheet and extrusions.
Leveraging DITH’s capability in financing, logistics and risk management, we have become an established partner for aluminium smelters, processors, service centres and customers in the construction, packaging, industrial equipment and automotive markets.
